Web design in Auckland
We design and build websites for Auckland businesses that need the site to do a job: fill the calendar, take the order, or make the phone ring. No page-builder templates, no offshore handoff, no account manager between you and the people writing the code.
What you get
- A design made for your business, not a theme with your logo dropped in
- Copywriting, or a rewrite of what you already have
- Every page built to load under two seconds on a phone on mobile data
- Title tags, descriptions, headings and schema set up before launch
- Google Business Profile and Search Console connected on the day you go live
- A CMS for the parts you want to edit, and none for the parts you don't
- Training, a handover document, and full ownership of the code and the domain
What an Auckland web design project looks like
Most projects run four to eight weeks from the first call to launch. We start by working out what the site has to achieve, because a dental practice chasing new patient bookings and a joinery firm chasing commercial quotes need different pages, different proof, and different calls to action.
From there the shape is consistent:
- Week one. A working session on your customers, your competitors and your offer. We audit whatever site you have now and pull the pages that already earn traffic.
- Week two. Wireframes and copy for every page, reviewed before anyone opens a design tool. Changing a sentence costs nothing at this stage and costs real money after the build.
- Weeks three to five. Design, then build. You see the site on a live staging URL from the first day of the build, so nothing arrives as a surprise at the end.
- Week six. Speed, accessibility and search checks, then launch. Redirects mapped from every old URL so you keep the rankings you already have.
You get a named engineer for the whole project. The same person who designs your homepage writes its code, which removes the gap where most agency projects lose their detail.
Built without page-builder debt
We build on React and modern static hosting rather than a stack of WordPress plugins. That decision shows up in three places you can measure.
Speed. A page-builder site drags 2MB of JavaScript before it renders a headline. Ours ship the HTML first, which is what Google's Core Web Vitals actually grade you on and what a customer on a phone in a carpark actually experiences.
Maintenance. There is no plugin licence to renew and no security patch cycle where a missed update takes the site down. Our note on what maintenance really costs after launch breaks the bills down.
Ownership. The code lives in a repository you own, on hosting you control. If you decide to work with someone else in two years, they can pick it up. That is the opposite of how a proprietary builder works, and it matters more than most people realise until they try to leave.
Search visibility, handled during the build
Retrofitting SEO onto a finished site costs more than building it in. Every site we ship leaves with the technical layer done: crawlable HTML, a clean heading structure, schema markup describing your business, a sitemap, and canonical URLs that stop Google indexing five versions of the same page.
For an Auckland business the local layer matters as much as the technical one. We wire your site to your Google Business Profile, mark up your address and service area, and structure your service pages so each one targets a phrase a customer would type. Our guide to local SEO for New Zealand trades covers what moves the needle once the site is live.
The site launches ready to rank. Whether it does rank depends on reviews, links and time, and we will tell you that honestly rather than sell you a guarantee nobody can make.
Who we work with
We work with Auckland businesses turning over enough that the website matters to revenue. Dental practices, trades and maintenance firms, joinery and manufacturing, professional services, and founders launching something new.
We are a small senior team, so we take a handful of projects at a time. That suits businesses who want the people doing the work in the room. It suits a business needing forty stakeholders managed through a nine-month process less well, and we will say so on the first call rather than three months in.
Common questions
How much does a website cost in Auckland?
It depends on page count, custom functionality, and how much content you need us to write. Tell us the scope on the first email and we will give you a fixed quote before any work starts, so the number you approve is the number you pay. See how we price for the shape of the bands.
How long does a website take to build?
Four to eight weeks for most marketing sites, measured from the first working session to launch. E-commerce and custom application work runs eight to sixteen weeks. The biggest variable is how fast content and feedback come back from your side, not the build itself.
Do you work with businesses outside Auckland?
Yes. We are based in Auckland and have clients across New Zealand. Most of the process runs over video calls and a shared staging link, so location makes little difference to the work. We do meet Auckland clients in person for the opening session where it helps.
Do I own the website when it is finished?
You own the domain, the code, the content and the hosting account. We hand over admin access and a written handover document at launch. Nothing is locked to us, and you can move the site to another developer without asking our permission.
Can you redesign my existing website instead of starting over?
Often, yes. If the current site has traffic and rankings worth keeping, a redesign that preserves the URL structure costs less and risks less than a rebuild. We audit what you have first and tell you which route makes sense. Our article on redesign versus rebuild sets out how that call gets made.
What happens after the site launches?
Hosting, SSL, backups and uptime monitoring are covered by a monthly care plan we quote separately from the build. Content changes, new pages and feature work are quoted per job or covered by a retained block of hours. You are not locked into either.
